Since the majority of our food is imported, there might be a problem.

@JefferyAshmore You might want to look at the labels next time you're in the grocery store.

@LegendOfTheFLame393 On average the US has about a two week supply of food within it's borders. The shortest time from plant to harvest is around 80 days, plus transport. Assuming you knew the interruption would be long term and you started trying to sustain yourself on day one, what are you going to do for the 66 days until the first crop is ready. The reality of a supply interruption of more than a few days can be seen in events at the New Orleans Superdome following Hurricane Katrina. You also need to remember it's not just food production, but also distribution and storage. Kind of hard to truck things when the energy supply has been interrupted,

@Kevin-x4p4y Surpluses of grain, wheat, corn, rice which is not "Food" until processed.

@SUFFICIENCYtoLIBERTY "2 weeks on shelves" or so it seems. Reality is those shelves are replenished each night but more importantly have you ever visited a grocery store the day before a major hurricane or snow storm? If so you would notice those shelves are stripped in a matter of hours leaving,..... NOTHING. As far as processing and distribution is concerned, difficult to do with out electricity. That power interruption doesn't take any grand plan or massive cyber attack, just a few rifle bullets in the right location. Check out the Southern Pines NC power vandalism from last December.

@DanHutchings-xx7ug Most of the country has a limited growing season so everything has to be processed for storage. That garden in the backyard just won't supply enough, plus many people have no yard space at all. However even if someone has the space, growing and preserving takes time, a lot of time and skills and even if successful, all it takes is one failed crop to ruin everything.

@DanHutchings-xx7ug Sent to China like wheat and corn,.. do you have a mill for processing. Don't forget it takes fuel to harvest and transport those crops and speaking of fuel, how you planning on getting those supplies from California and Florida to the rest of the country? Now if you have a small farm you might be able to feed your family and a few neighbors or a small community (all within walking distance) but try surviving for just six months on what is grown in a 25x10 garden. The entire point being, some people will make it but the majority will just be victims and that would happen in a very short amount of time. Speaking of hungry people, do you have the means and the will to protect your food supply. Yes, I know you don't think it is possible, can't happen here.
