Some years the corporation I worked for decided they needed younger people with fresh ideas so a plan was worked out to get rid of us old timers. The official line was some "churn" was needed so everyone with X years of service and at X age was offered an early retirement package, not bad but not great either. One of the stipulations if accepted was you were not allowed to come back to work in any form for at least two years, not as a contractor, consultant, or anything connected with the business, I said ok took the money and ran.
Here is the kicker, "TWO WEEKS" was how long it took the company to reconsider their choices and ask a lot of us to "PLEASE COME BACK". Personally I declined, some of my friends and co-workers accepted and went back for another five years and received a second retirement package. Seems us OLD people had a lot of knowledge, made good decisions, and actually contributed more than two or three of their new hires,..
