@aereree Many here seem to have difficulty accepting the fact that neither Trump, nor anyone involved with the Jan 6th incident have been found guilty or even charged with insurrection.

A big part of the problem here is that while many people believe Trump is guilty of insurrection, when it comes to "the law", Trump and all those associated with the Jan 6 incident, have not been found guilty or even charged with insurrection. The purpose of the 14th Amendment was to keep Confederates from gaining power after the Civil War, though it could be used today. The 14th Amendment does not apply here until Trump is at least charged with insurrection.

@celticseaalchemist7667 Okay, but there is a very good chance the Supreme Court will over-rule that ruling. I only repeat what I've heard legal experts say about this, only time will tell. I'm afraid all this could back-fire on the Democrats.

@elss8717 That may be true, but I still have a problem with the "insurrectionists" who have been charged with crimes but none charged with insurrection. How can that be? I guess I believe there needs to be some evidence, not just people using the word "insurrection" making it so.

@elss8717 I think it was a mixture of things. Many people were arrested, some ultimately had charges dropped, and many have gone to prison for various crimes like unruly conduct, damage to property or other charges.. Imagine if "mere suspicion" was enough, Republicans could accuse Biden of Treason by "mere suspicion", and of course we would agree that would be unacceptable.

@Akira-jd2zr That may be but those decisions will come before the Supreme Court who most experts say will over-rule them. At that point you will not accept their decision. Only time will tell the outcome here. I still think it's significant that in all the other law suits against Trump was not charged with insurrection. What's funny is that I don't say these things to support Trump, just looking for the truth. What I said about those involved with Jan 6th is undeniable.

PROOF. No court of law has charged or found Trump guilty of insurrection. I do not say this in defense of Trump, just stating facts

Excellent observation. I believe if Trump is taken out of the election, Thom will simply shift the same accusations toward the runner-up. It's a never ending circle...
