  1. There's no way HSR in the Pacific Northwest would cost $42 Billion dollars. The entire proposal was lowballing how much it would cost. 250 Mph HSR would require a near straight alignment through (geologically) young mountains and an earthquake zone. 250 mph HSR at that cost is impossible. It would probably be way cheaper, better and cost effective to aim for 150 mph quad tracking and electrifying the current corridor. I am definitely going to oppose this project when it come up for public comment here in BC. There's absolutely no way this will cost $42 billion ($53 billion today).
