"Pawar politics runs sugar in Maharashtra." I appreciate a good pun. Shekharji must be relieved that MVA no longer runs Maharashtra otherwise he would have been staring at an arrest for perceived insult of Pawar politics.

He actually showed us that you can get better outcomes without being a member of one particular political dynasty.

@arjavgarg5801 well, that didn't stop Delhi resident Bagga from getting arrested by Punjab police or Zee anchor in UP from getting arrested by Chattisgarh police. Or even Mamta from sending Kolkata police to arrest bloke in Goa.

@upskill8585 free electricity does not improve productivity unlike free rations. On the other hand, free electricity the way it's doled out in India not only depresses public finances (teacher's salaries aren't paid, roads aren't repaired, public services are poorly financed), it also discourages investment in power generation and distribution. Case in point: PSPCL (Punjab PSU discomm) has been running at a loss because the State does not pay it for electricity (in time), on the other hand, allocates it's future revenues towards more free electricity and paying for the previous years free electricity. They don't have money to maintain their power plants or distribution network. To compensate, PSPCL charges some of the highest industrial electricity tariff rates in the country (at 5/unit whereas in the average is around 3.5). Guess what, industrial units in Punjab are dying. The way it's setup is really penny wise pound foolish.

@bloodwargaming3662 sure but arrest across State lines is as undemocratic as it gets for a democratically elected CM. It violates basic norms. It's worse than any threat a person can make.
