  1. SC's judgement would have been more palatable if the SC worked on removing structural barriers. Reservations is fine if Govt. Of India liberalizes education further and built more capacity in the education system. Instead Govt of India makes it a miserable rat race in an shrinking lake of opportunity. Number of seats hasn't kept up with the number of students because every Govt spends abysmal amounts of money on education. For all the flowery words of Justice Chandrachod, he fails to apply the same principles of structural criticism that inspired his speech in Harvard.

  2. I think people are missing the significance of Gen Naravane, "(the job of) The Indian Army is to defends the constitution of India". I think that's a change in the attitude of the Indian armed forces. Previously the Armed forces used to state that their job was to enforce the defense policies of Govt of India (IIRC, it was Manekshaw who said that). In a way, this change of flame symbolizes that shift.
