In case you are wondering why Taiwan is important, then maybe the highlights of a CCP military policy doc might help. So basically the CCP thinks they have a multiple fronts to deal with, West with India, North with Russia and East with Japan, American forces in Korea and Japan and finally Taiwan. On the front with India, China has 2(+3 reserve) army groups v. 10 army groups for India. So the PLA would be using a lot of resources fighting Americans and Japanese on the Eastern front. They want to push the front further into the Pacific. Capturing Taiwan means the PLA Navy and Air Force can push their Eastern front further into the Pacific and thus allow more troops and air forces to be used on the Western front to "resolve" issues with India. Most analysts think Taiwan can be invaded within a week, so after a week that the Western front can be get adequate forces to "resolve" the issues with India.

@aditya-ml6km I'm just stating what CCP's strategic thinking is like. Obviously they are aware of the challenges of an invasion.

@gaganbhattacharya9890 I've lived there and I know what it's like (I was there during the 2015-2016 election season). This again this is CCP strategic thinking.
