  1. Welcome step. Better late than never. Sadly, I wish Government of India had welcome Sri Lankan Tamil refugees back in the late 2010s (and throughout the Civil war). Our country has done great disservice against it's diaspora over the decades - Sri Lankan Tamil, Fiji Hindis, Ugandan Gujaratis and Marwadis. Our country still does great disservice to them today - around 100,000 Sri Lankan Tamils are denied their natural right to integrate with Indian Tamils, Chakmas are denied their right to become citizens despite being resettled 3 generations ago, Fiji Hindis can't naturalize in India.

  2. There's plenty towards South Indians too. They form the backbone of India's modern economy. It's only the urban elite with their snotty sense of entitlement that looks down on people. Rather than celebrate or embrace the diversity, they insult, belittle and disparage people for not being "polished" enough.
