Critics have it wrong. US UK etc have rules of law and a functional Judiciary that our neighbors don't have. US justice system will go after that bloke that engages in hate crime against Hindus, Sikhs, etc. In Pakistan, the political system subjects them to severe hardship and punishment. There's a necessity for CAA and it should be the first step. Critics and their false equivalences have led to Delhi riots. Maybe over time we might not need to apply CAA to the subjects of Bangladesh but the time is not now.

@ThePrintIndia Shekarji, that is the executive's prerogative that it exercises on an individual basis. If the executive wishes to grant citizenship, it can within the powers that has been provided to it. Presenting Adnan Sami as a counter example misses the distinction between executive and legislative actions. There's a need for legislation that covers aspects of CAA that you highlighted in the video. P.S.: You already have my email.

@sowmitriswamy6718 Arguing counterfactual is fool's paradise. However, CAA in it's current form would not have applied to Tamils (Sri Lanka is excluded). If the situation in Sri Lanka were same as it was in the 80s and 90s, the legislation would have panned out differently. They would have negotiated citizenship for SL Tamils had CAA been a thing back then.
