I look back at the lost era of the UPA era and come out angry by how much of a lead they gave away to China by doing nothing. That was the lost era, we wasted away good growth, traded it for poor infrastructure, "secularism", going after "Saffron Terror" and sycophancy. Any comparisons with China misses it point unless it also acknowledges all the opportunities that were wasted away. This Govt has fixed a lot of those issues, steered the political economy in a sustainable direction however, much work remains to be done. We are finally starting to make headway into catching up with our peers. Agglomeration effect will set in a couple of years if we are able to maintain the momentum of reforms of every size and in every sector. That can only happen with a Leftist Stalinist Statist Mukth Bharat (everything the Congress whole heartily embodies today).

@pp_01123 Look at China's trajectory and our Trajectory from 2004 and you will see how much of a lead we gave them. In 2004, China was 1.5x our PCI, in 2014, China's PCI became 9x our PCI. We wasted our growth, ignored reforms, forgot about building infrastructure, defunded our armed forces, engaged in huge land grabs, pushed away investments, underfunded research etc. I can go on and on. We had growth, that's undeniable but we wasted it away, that is also undeniable.

@Kingzombiemyanmar Vajpayee Govt had the momentum and the money. Previous govts were cash strapped, so can't fault them for not building infrastructure. UPA had everything right going for them, sanctions were removed, economy booming, bouyant tax collection but they squandered that away.
