  1. Niall Ferguson said something very interesting that's relevant here. Dictators don't need to worry about the general happiness of their citizens. Russia with a $1 Trillion dollar GDP is still dangerous because Putin can sacrifice it's entire society to meet his geo-strategic goals. Scandinavian nations joining NATO is not all doom and gloom for Russia, but it only means more sacrifices from the Russian people.
