This is interesting. In 2009-2010, 10% of Indian expenditures went towards cereals (wheat, rice). In 2022-2023, that expenditure has come down to 5%. Almost every category in food items has had a “secular” decline except dry fruits! This is most likely because of Modi govts fight against inflation.

Amartya Sen, the man who hogs all investments into human capital ands squats on Govt land. The guy also almost succeeded in destroying Nalanda university. There are theories of Amartya and there is his practice.

@BharatThatIsIndia govt does not cover all food items. Dry fruit purchases went up - that’s actually discretionary spending.
