This is a false equivalence. In the Dutch and European case the predecessor govts or Royal family had involvement in slave trade. In our case, the Mughals were conquered over, the Marathas are no more, we literally got our first self rule in 1947. Govt of India doesn't need to apologize, neither does soceity.

@chubbymoth5810 n our case, only invaders were involved in it. Babur and the Delhi Sultanate considered themselves as Ghaznavids/Persians. Even their descendants haven't survived to the modern era. So no one in the contemporary era was involved in it. In case of the Dutch, the Royal family is still alive, they (their grand and great-grandparents) benefited from it. They held shares in companies that traded slaves.

Kausa ancestors? Khilji was not our ancestors, neither are Mughuls. Heck the British ensured none of their descendants survived to this day. So who will approach and for remorse? Your dad? Stop apeing Western thinking.

@ThePrintIndia I disagree. None of the folks who implemented those policies exists today unlike in Europe. This is gross false equivalence bordering on aping the Western issues on to our problems. Throughout our history, our society was ruled under the helm of invaders - they dictated rules, we followed them (out of fear, sense of law, etc.). Slavery did not exists in India prior to Sultanates.

@babinmartin3913 Akbar released his slaves. That meant his Hindu mentors had a moderating effect on him. That's what it means.
