Comments by "M Shastri" (@libshastra) on "No armed forces recruitments for 2 yrs, rising shortfall, does size matter, quality or quantity" video.
The issue with Armed forces is not the shortfall in number of people for infantry divisions but the shortfall is of officers and non combat officers. The Armed forces should work on Rawat's reforms that allows for internal training and recruitment. They really need to build more defense colleges and institutes. On the other hand, we should increase recruitment for Police and paramilitary. We actually need more beat cops and facilities for them.

A US vet commenting on Indian issues. Welcome sir. Deep respect for the vets, pleasure to have the opportunity to work with a lot of them.

@kukulkhaan US veterans are more versatile than you think. Your Indian Army veteran is more talented than most Indians.

@kukulkhaan you are an embarrassment. Good luck with your "new" financial systems and "contracts". I hope you gain the maturity to improve your outlooks and perspectives.

They should do what France does. In France, the pension budget is separate from the defense budget and managed by a pension fund like a mutual fund.

@kukulkhaan there's a huge difference between guest and working with them. I have worked with vets from across the world. Most of them are extremely motivated and competent folks, Indian Army veterans included.

@UCDOOezetGzlqkiezTOB0-xA from the outside yes. I'm talking about helping enlisted personnel (your Havildars) become non commissioned officers (your captains). The other kind of transition is moving them away from Frontline duties and into Frontline support duties especially specialist roles like signals officer (again reserved for Commissioned officers). Frontline support roles can be Short service commission role, so you can get rid of them after the tour of duty. These SSC roles can fill the skill shortfall in many of our sunshine sectors like electronics.
