  12.  @sankalp6872 you have it wrong. Maldives lies in the 8 degree channel. Huge shipping lane and choke point. It's essentially the entrance into Eastern IOR. If you want to monitor and deter Chinese submarine activity then you would want control Maldives. Also, it's midpoint between India and Diego Garcia. So you if want to put pressure on the US and UK, you'd want those islands. Plus control of Maldives expands our EEZs way into IOR. Means we get to dictate Freedom of navigation. We can get the Maldives and neither US or China can do anything beyond watch. Maldives exists because of our goodwill, not because of International law.
