  1. I think the dependence goes both ways. If they push us to far, then the Gulf Countries are looking at an Arab Spring style revolution. We provide them with cheap and good quality food grains. Religion does not fill stomachs.

  2. It's simple, it is not in Bangladesh's national interest to provoke a larger neighbor. Besides they benefit favorably with trade with India and they depend on us for wheat and other food grains. India also helps with Bangladesh's stability - we give them generous grants. Bangladesh is one of the biggest recipient of Indian grants. The Islamic world has also did quiet downed. Iran particularly retracted their statement, Kuwait threatened to deport Anti India protestors. Most countries accepted the EAM statement and moved on. Also it doesn't help that certain Muslim communities engaged in rioting. None of this should be a surprise. Yet we act so surprised. Exactly a week later everyone moved on to the next issue - Inflation, new cold war, regionalization etc.

  3.  @akalikoscape  Line of Credits, discounts on food grains, refined petroleum products and the grants we provide by letting Bangladesh railways purchase shitty rolling stock from ICF. I am probably missing a lot more but on average India gives about a $1 billions of grants to Bangladesh per year.
