  1. Sports can unite people, however that unity can come in various forms. In some cases, it can bring nations closer together however, when nations are bitter rivals, it brings people in their respective nations closer. The 1980 Ice Hockey match between the Soviet Union and USA did not bring those nations closer together, but it definitely did brought Americans closer to each other. Unity of people across borders through Sport has to come through mutual respect of each other by sportsmen. I don't think we saw any of that happening in Dubai.
