Dress codes are there for a strong reason. It is too prevent escalating competition between communities and it brings a sense of equality. No matter how rich you are, who you pray to or what language you speak we are all the same.

@AJ-vu5gv they codified their law with our constitution. It's called essential practices. Ever community has the right to essential practices as long as they are compatible with the basic doctrine. If certain Muslims communities feel hijab is essential then denying then hijab is a violation of the constitution. Bohras have done this just like the Sikhs. There are other ways too. We have plenty of private schools attached to ashrams as their promoters and plenty schools attached to mosques as well. We have language minority institutions. Plenty of legal avenues are available. They should fight it in courts. Not on the streets. Know your constitution, fight with the constitution.

@AJ-vu5gv they are essential practices. Sikh have codified their religious laws, they opted into our constitution. If Muslims feel that hijabs are essential, then they should codify it as such. Let them fight it out courts. Bohras have done so. We also allow them to run their own education institution and enforce their dress code on us. I'd encourage them to take the legal route. It's not like we aren't providing options.

@Gharwapas say what you will. But come down to earth sometimes and face reality. We are the second largest country with a Muslim population. That is around 170,000,000 people. They are as much Indian as we are. They have contributed a lot to our culture. Are you saying Kabir poem was inferior? Or are you going to condemn the Muslim sculpturers of the temples that built by the BJP government? Do you really think driving them away won't leave a huge hole in the heart of our culture?
