  1. I strongly disagree. We have a quagmire of personal laws that need to be resolved first. Just cause you want SSM doesn't mean it can simply happen with a court judgment. The State provided multiple justification regarding how untangling needs to be done and SC agreed with it. Let me give you a simple case: Alimony in India is defined in a gendered manner (Blame Shariat Act, 1937). So if we recognize SSM, how would alimony work in that case? Court simply can't adjudicate and come up with a new law to recognize Alimony specifically for them. That would be gross violation of their powers. Besides our leaders (atleast BJP) have the right idea. UCC and then add SSM in it. That's the right way to do it.
