Thank you for this. We need to know more about the Muslim community. Everyone consolidates them into one monolithic block but they have their own issues, aspirations and voting patterns. Edit: Comments are garbage.

About Diversity, the West sees diversity as a salad bowl and advocates for that model everywhere (It's kinda rich to insist that's the only true model of diversity). BBC describes Indian diversity as a thali, neatly segregated and that doesn't mingle together. I believe, diversity in India is neither a salad bowl, nor a thali - it's a sandwich. Layers, mixed together with each other's flavor and texture contributing to the entire package of a sandwich and yet each layer maintains it's distinctions. This is a good interview. P.S : Please feel free to comment with your favorite Sandwich recipes 😋

Gobi Manchurian is actually a symbol of successful integration of Chinese culture into mainstream Indian culture. For folks who aren't aware, we have a very vibrant Chinese community in India (Pre-independence and more recent ones too). They invented Indo Chinese cuisine and all our fave Chinese dishes. This integration makes the CCP afraid to the core. It is a direct contradiction of their world view. That's probably why they hate us so much and keeps denying that we are a nation and a "union of states/coalition of tribes". In addition their wumaos always tries to stress that we were never united.

I like this series. We should celebrate more talented people and learn from them. Talent comes in every form, trade and skill.

DK Singhji, please write a book. This piece is beautiful.

I appreciate the Print positions and editorials. I also appreciate drawing the line between reporting and expressing an opinion. Unlike mainstream media, The Print doesn't seem to institutionally prejudge events as they happen.

One day I shall visit this place.

Jyotiji this time was way better moderator. Kudos to her for calling out on the secular narrative of BJP's opposition.

Shekarji, your participation in TVO Panel the other day was quite refreshing. It brought a lot of nuance in the discussion.

When are we going to start exporting vaccines? Because if we don't vaccinate the World then all this effort will go to waste. Also what's the Govt's plan for stockpiling booster shots and annual Covid vaccines? These are the questions we should be asking.

Adani's investments within India are pretty sound (some will have solid returns once policy headwinds are removed for eg Adani Solar will benefit from renewable commitment.) Adani's investments outside India - is no different Govt Of India's numerous loss making PSU investments (but strategic investments). That should tell you everything about Adani. BTW the NDTV deal is a ruthless really well executed deal. It should be a case study in B schools on how to pick a ruthless deals.

@ThePrint can we have Shekerji do an episode on environmental petitions?
10
Shekarji, The Print has been doing good reporting on the implementation of the NEP. Maybe just similar to the episode on "Nal Se Jal" scheme, it is time to revisit how much work has been done on NEP and how much work is left to be done.

Noice! Glad to see you come to Youtube. The audience is wider and you will get a LOT of inputs.

Very interesting insight into BJP ground game. This is excellent stuff. Maybe you should consider publishing a long form article of this.

@Theprint please keep posting video from Arunachal Pradesh every week.

While Ukraine is the focus, our neighbor Nepal is becoming culturally closer to China. Nepali rudrashk traders are learning Mandarin because Chinese buyers are buying in the bulk loads. I think we do need to stress harder on repairing our relationship with Nepal. We don't talk about them enough.

The CDS's comment about clash of civilization is bizarre. I understand the context of the comment but it was very bizarre thing to say.

This is good and excellent detail. Good work.

Shekharji, this is unrelated but something you might like to read. Stimson center released a new policy paper titled, "China's evolving strategic discourse on India". I think you and your staff would enjoy the read. :)
4
Shekharji, can we have a National interest article about COVID-19 and not to let our ground down as we head into festival season? Please 🥺🙏

Thank you for the coverage. There's a meme, That escalated quickly. That's what this is.

Good interview.

I will make a visit soon without a Hukou pass or permission from a political commissar, take selfies with Winnie the Pooh doll because I have freedom of expression and freedom of movement unlike our folks living in our neighbour across the Himalayas. Isn't freedom a wonderful thing? Mad respect to the Armed Forces for protecting our freedoms.

The good thing about the ThePrint is that it provides younger journalists an opportunity to grow, to do better and more importantly exposure. It's not a bunch of old people spouting their opinions (no disrespect meant to the older folks). The team is reflective of the demographic of India. Keep it up

I love these series of interviews. I wish we could get an outline of how much that allocation was actually spent. Economic survey wasn't that clear on that for the previous year.
3
That introduction is very well thought out. 👏

This is the kind of economy we need. People setting up businesses, employing people, freeing them from the shackles of Govt. handouts.

Shekarji, I would highly recommend the "War on the Rocks" podcasts. The latest episodes goes quite a bit into Ukrainian and Russian capabilities.

12:00 There needs to be better retelling of Reservations. The reason why Ambedkar won the debate on reservations is because he won the debate before it even began. Ambedkar wasn't the first to propose it, neither was GoI the first entity to implement reservations. The first reservations were implemented in Kolhapur state under Shahu Maharaj. In fact Ambedkar was groomed by Shahu Maharaj. The Hindu Mahasabha, chasing after Hindu unity, proposed reservations to enlist Dalit help in the freedom movement. Moonje (Hindu Mahasabha) and Rajah (Dalit) signed the Rajah-Moonje pact which became the precursor to Poona Pact, signed months later. Reservations became a settled matter in 1932. Patel's objection (if he had any) was already moot in 1947. I think you are confusing the expansion of OBCs by Mandal with reservations for SCs. The 69% reservation you are talking about is OBC reservations. Reservations and until Mandal was implemented it never exceeded 50%.

SAIS Alumni! No wonder the quality of analysis is pretty darn good.

@shekhargupta3911 thank you for your response. It encourages me to write more neutral comments. One day soon I hope to write for "Your Turn"

The Print should consider setting up bureaus in our immediate neighbors. :)

Thanks!

@ThePrint I think an indepth article about law making process and committee attendance split along party lines would be awesome. I strongly believe we should keep an eye on committees, it's attendance, their precedings and any debate motions passed in Parliament.

Great stuff! Loved the metaphors

Sedition act is one the catch laws that makes it super easy for politicians to harass citizens. However, even if Sedition act doesn't exist, there are plenty of egregious laws with disproportionate punishments in IPC that are being abused by politicians. IPC needs to be scrapped completely. In fact our laws treat imprisonment like candy (or freebies) and it punishes normal activities. For eg: CEO can be jailed for more than 10 years for not filing a Form. Also this is why labor laws need to be notified. It will decriminalize a lot of laws that are being abused to jail people.

Pakistan is delusional to think that Afghanistan or the Taliban owes them for "independence". That's like saying the Subcontinent should thank the UK for giving us democracy.
1
Great work! You have added a lot of context to the topic.

@WorldofAntiquity check out the article titled, "Babri, Saraswati, Aryans – There are rival Indian histories now and campuses are the warzone" published on the Print.

@ThePrintIndia there's a dearth of good journalism with wide coverage in India. The press is after all the fourth estate of any democratic society and it needs to be strong and well funded.

Been waiting on this KYC episode. Thank you, it looks like you took the time to understand the bill. Good work

This CTC or editorial is well deserved.
