@skibidipop Also in Russian and Slavic languages in general "morye" , means a large body of water which in modern Russian refers to a sea (and I think in Spanish and Portugese too), And I suppose that in English you have the word "marine" which probably had the same origin.

Great comment , but speaking of the Russian language, I' dont understand why you artificially castrated it , Russian language has the most amount colours out of any language and especially different shades of red, including ruby - rubinoviy.

@cmyk8964 That's very strange because according to the Russian dictionary of 1789 , that word ( which is the same in Russian - Apelsin ) came from Dutch language ( " is a Hollands name ") so you should have the exact same form of that word as in Russian because it came to my language from your language ( Apelsin) .

@fthurman Yeah I'm also confused by that, as to how you could confuse those colours, pink is pink and light red is light red. May that's because I'm Russian and we have like a million names just for the different shades of red in Russian. Definitely more than any other language in the world, as far as I'm aware.

В Русском больше всего цветов чем в любом другом языке мира. В том числе и Лазурный , по англицки азурный. Все цвета которые он назвал я так же могу привести их формы в Русском.

@sergeykish teal - бирюзовый. Magenta - маджента . Russia has the most colours out of all world languages.

@sergeykish my message got deleted by accident. but you can't even imagine how wrong you are.

@sergeykish ahahaha how to tell me you are ukranian without telling me that you are ukranian))

@sergeykish you are definitely a very amusing guy, I give you that... claiming other people of being narcissist and chauvinist while being guilty of it yourself lol. As you can probably tell I'm very passionate about world languages , and I can speak a few, but Russian definitely is the most complex out of them all. However I am not willing to waste my time talking to a chauvinist. bye

@FarfettilLejl wow , do you use the colour " niebieski" often? in Russian it's the same but it is not used often. And instead of "błękitny" we use "goluboy"

same in russian

There's also a word in Russian "blacklij" - " блеклый " / " блёклый " which means an absence of colour... Which explains that absence of colour some people (especially in the middle ages) would consider white and some black. Depending on what the "no colour" colour meant to you, it was obviously one of the two.
