  1. To my knowledge they used Hippos. They were quite famously dangerous beasts that everyone feared back then. Everyone knew about them and feared them. So it makes absolute sense that they used hippos. And it's got a better intimidating factor, with large and more impressive jaws to it. Would have been a great cinematic too.

  4. Yep. He is 100% not black. I mean there could have been some shade to it as it's hard to find pearl white people even today. But nothing of what we would consider black or even brown today. He looked like a typical Roman citizen.
