Surprisingly it was a great documentary, well done. It is so hard to find a decent and non biased documentary on the Slavic culture. I would like to add a few points though: 1) Gorod/grad did not initially mean a city, it's basically a fortification like "castle" (a wooden castle) where Knyaz resides with his druzhina. 2) Holm means "a hill" so holmgorod is just a fortification on the hill. So Rurik just built a new fortification after Holmgard, that's why it's named "new fortification". 3) There was a city of Slovensk according to the chronicles in the place of Novgorod, established ~ 3k BC. So Rurik came to Slovensk and established Novgorod ( built a new castle).

@supermpaleofan1555 Languge is the same. It's direct descendant of the Slavic and Russian language. A simple distinction in the city name - gorod or grad. Which Rurik had established. We know that for a fact. And the only grad/gorod to mean a city is the Slavic language. So it's a directly linked language from the ancient Rus of Rurik.

Russia is Rusland in German - literally the land of the Rus!!!

In Russian 1) holm = a hill 2) gard = guard. Basically an all around fortification, which later became a word for the city. But it's meaning is not "a farm" and never was. It's meaning is "guard" = gard. Any fortified or guarded area.

@styrman1337 It's not a bug. It's the policy of youtube. With the help of modern day AI, it censors topics or things which are not allowed on youtube, not even curse words or something bad etc. It censors an opinion that they are not allowing to have or spread. As "you are only allowed to have their point of view and not yours". Half of my comments also gets deleted automatically. I already got used to it, but some people still don't realize that.

@garrgravarr read the pinned comment. That's the general demagogy of the pro Ukr. view. That "Russians don't exist" and they are the real "Russians" yet they won't call themselves Russian because Russians stole their Russianness... (yes it's complete nonsense and makes no sense, yet we have to deal with those arguments on the daily basis, "just because they can". With no real purpose other then to "deny Russian existence").

What do you mean by Fibbonaci is "kolo"? If you mean that spiral is also a Kolo then no. Kolo is a circle.

Varangians is just a group of people, like pirates or painters. It's not ethnical.
1
Novgorod was built in the place of the town Slovensk which originated at ~ 3k BC. He was not a foregner, Varangians were russoslavic.

Yeah ,yeah. Good luck trying to actually find out the truth. The video is wrong on so many levels... Let's start with the obvious, that "Kievan Rus" never existed same as "Rus khanate" it's a completely made up thing. Also with your pictures are wrong it didn't even remotely look like this. etc.
1
@erkkinho so whats "air" got to do with naming a city. It literally makes no sense.
1
@erkkinho may be because Ilmans lived there? have you ever thought that? And Ilmans came from the Ilman lake.
1
not city of hill. "A city" on the hill. A singular fortification on a singular hill.

@dasarath5779 He is from Ukr. he is trying to suggest that Russians are not Russians and that they are Russians but they won't name themselves Russians because Russians stole their name. (yes a complete nonsense, but they've been programmed to say that every day...)

@styrman1337 Nizhny Novgorod is not related to the Great Novgorod. Gorod is just a fortification of a city. Novgorod is just a new fortification, that's it. Any valuable enough city had a "gorod" in it. Moscow in fact had like 5 Gorod's , and each gorod is basically just a lair of circled fortification, that's it. In modern day words "gorod" is where the mayor and police stays and where people could go in in case of emergency ( of a siege) to get shelter.

your reads are wrong. it never existed.
1
@kimrizo1938 Slovyane - Slovene basically the same thing. Also that's the first time I hear of "Suvar". In the Russian Chronicles it was : Rurik (Novgorod - Slovensk) , Truvor (Izborsk) and Sineus (Belozere)
1
@kimrizo1938 And why did Russians rewrite it and not your sources rewrote it? It's just a question of perspective. You have to give a proper reasoning, for the name and not just "your sources are wrong my sources are right".
1
@kimrizo1938 thanks

That is a pro ukr. propaganda narrative which has no base in reality.

@aeonum that's the thing though, it detects aesopian language too! There's a quick check for it... Just try to translate your aesopian message into your native language after you think that you've made it cryptic enough. 90% of the time it detects your cryptic message correctly, and get's the right syntax. And it's improving with time with the help of an AI unfortunately. Thing that actually impressed me the most is that it detects sarcasm too in some cases...
