or fortunately... Ending this war prematurely i. e. now, is going to be a win for the west ( and ukraine) and a loss for Russia ( and it's allies)... I'm not going to say more...

5 mil is the total potential of the whole of Ukraine, But it's not going to happen , may be 1 or 2 at best... and not 5 or 4.

You still need to count the potential of a potential of mobilization, those that fled the country or living in other countries are also a potential of a potential alas most of them ofcourse won't fight for the Ukraine. So the mobilization potential should be counted from 50 mil. ppl. , out of those 11 mil are of the pension age, and say 8 mil or so underage. So around 30 mil people who in theory are capable of fighting , how many people are willing to fight for the Ukraine out of those, hard to tell, but in my opinion no more than 3 - 6 mil. at best. Which is 10% - 20% and no more than that (long to explain). And that is in my opinion is the limit, in reality I think that the total number will actually be around 2 mil. who they can gather to fight on the fields.

@marvin902x Yes and no. You don't need ammunition or anything, to just be a meat shield. You just need to be present there on the front line and be detectable from a drone or an infrared camera. Besides, it's not that hard to find a gun. The world is at a point where there are billions of guns... Depending on how your organize things and your logistics it could be as good or as bad as you want. But we know from the WW2 that a 10 mil. front is actually physically possible from the logistics side of things.

@tolis7411 I mean it's all just a guess work. Nobody knows for sure. But the potential is there. Like in Germany in the 1945 there were like 70 mil. people, and a potential of like 30 mil. of mobilized personnel ( i. e. men fit for mil. service) , but nobody wanted to fight for Hitler, so he had to recruit children in his final stand... The mobilization factor depends on many factors, which are all hard to calculate and estimate, and it's never a linear number. In my opinion, the actual mobilization number that Ukraine can gather is 2 mil. people.

That could also be a misinformation. alas they proposed a peace talk only if they came to the border of Crimea, but that will never happen as we know...

I don't think you understand this... They are just using them as the meat shield. And it is actually effective. No matter how good of a shooter you are , you only have 30 bullets in your mag, so you can only liquidate a few at a time... If I just keep throwing meat at you, even with no equipment, you will not be able to advance. at all , because you will be constantly needing to reload when the new portion of ukr. meat arrives.

@JA-nq7xf I would not agree. I mean again... it all depends on many factors... again it's all just a guess work. But I know from my situation, that I could definitely fight for one of the sides and I'm not living in Russia or Ukraine even though I was born there. But my family had immigrated a long time ago - 20 years ago. So potentially you could see me on the front lines ( in reality not possible for me at the moment). It all depends, but I can tell you for sure , that the potential is still there, so you need to take immigrants , that have immigrated to other countries, too. Not many will fight , but the potential is there. And that potential is higher , than just from a random stranger to those cultures or countries.

@Doberman296 52 million was in 1991 , that was the number that was given when Bush was in Kiev in 1991. But by the official statistics that number was hit only in 1993. Regardless, Ukraine had started with 52 mil. people and now only around 22 mil left after 33 years... give or take...

@johanrebel9252 Ukraine had 52 mil. ppl that's the official number, at the time of the Soviet Union dissolution. Although I would agree with the rest of what you've said. Their government was selling to them "the European dream" for Ukranians to migrate to Europe and "live rich like a European" so ofcourse the majority of the younger population had left to Europe (and the other half had left to Russia) . But with regards to how many they can gather troops on the battlefield. It honestly depends on many factors. But as far as I understand, this conflict is unlike anything else we've ever seen in history. Where Ukraine is almost 100% is being funded by the west. The floodgate of money is endless. The total amount of "help" was over $150 bil (most of it is weapons and mil. help) which is more than a Ukranian GDP ( which is estimated to be at around $132 bil. 2022)... So you have to look at it from a different angle, the west is saying - we will give you anything - ANYTHING, any amount of money and weapons and political support, as long as you are fighting Russia , so the potential of how many soldiers they can feed and arm is solely relies not on the Ukraine , but on the west as a whole... And as long as it doesn't collapse soon (which it's already slowly doing), the west will always support Ukraine for a proxy WW3 with Russia. There will never be another chance to fight Russia directly on the battlefield, as with this golden opportunity for the west, so I believe that the west will give and try everything here... Going as far as throwing Poland and Romania into the furnace , as long as they can support the conflict even at their own detriment ( look at the France protests, against the pension reforms etc). So the amount of troops is limited not by the money or supplies, but by the amount of people are who willing to go on the battlefield and fight. And that number can be as low or as big as you'd like, just too many factors to consider. But as I've said, according to my estimation , up to 6 mil people, not more... That is only if the Ukraine remains at war, but if Poland and Romania joins that number can double or triple. But that is again only a potential... in reality I don't think they will gather more than 2 mil, or 6 mil if other European countries join.
