15:45 - that is one of the coolest things of the modern warfare that I've ever heard. Building a tunnel into the enemy trenches, blowing it up and storming out of it afterwards... Russian ingenuity with this conflict never ceases to amaze me...👍

@manmin517 not really. Hamas is different. They've dug up tunnels in an old fashioned way, preparing for an inevitable IDF storming of the Gaza strip in advance. What was shown here is different. Russia had only got to that position recently and started to dig the tunnel for a specific task of breaking the fortified position of Avdiivka ( so it's not a penetrating tunnel, like on the border between the US and Mexico, but rather a break through the fortification kind of tunnel) . And as soon as the tunnel was dug, they blew it up and stormed out of it. This is similar to the medieval tactics of storming the castle, in medieval times. Except this time it was successfully used in a modern warfare. Nothing of that sort was every used by HAMAS or any Arab state for that matter. This is truly revolutionary.

My exact thoughts. And more impressive is that it has been used successfully in a modern warfare... and we are watching it live. I plead to the Russian ingenuity .

@garethmartin6522 In my understanding it's an innovation. Sort of like if you were using iron cannon balls, or crossbows, and it turned out to be effective in the modern warfare as to break the enemy trench lines... you just simply wouldn't think to use it in a modern warfare, and it would have never crossed your mind in the first place. Yet somehow it turns out to be very effective... which is impressive. That's the whole point.

@SanarySeggnete No you guys are missing the point. I'm talking specifically with regards to the MODERN warfare. By modern I mean in the past 80 years or so. You have to consider the age of aviation and tanks and modern guns and weaponry which had started in the 1930s The modern type of warfare which has never been seen previously before by the humankind. From that point onwards, after invention of the motorized brigades, tanks, aviation, modern munition and howitzers and automatic assault rifles etc etc etc. The tactic of digging up a tunnel like in the medieval ages was in question. Russia had just proved it now that it is indeed possible and it is indeed effective. Or at least I don't know any other examples of the modern warfare which had worked the same way. It was not even considered in the doctrine of modern warfare as a possibility, hence why it was so effective at Avdiivka for Russia which basically had invented that tactic in the modern warfare ( or basically reinvented it effectively).

@jamessmithers4456 WW1 wasn't really a modern warfare. Modern warfare is around 1930s - 1940s that's modern warfare. In the 1940s you got the modern type tanks, you get your first jet planes, nuclear warfare, AK 47 etc etc etc. That's modern warfare. WW1 can't really be considered a modern warfare. WW2 was on the brink of the modern warfare. But which battle did you have in mind? just for the reference?
