@dancingdark4527 I've really been enjoying the last 2 years in nature, to be honest. I've come to know almost all there is to know about blue herons nesting, for example :D They live in the trees next to my house. It did help me realize that even thought human society may be crazy right now, the real world abides and keeps on keeping on ;)

I am sorry for your loss :( It feels like a death when you realize your country isn't there for you anymore. I realize things have been sliding quickly downhill since the Greatest generation retired. They had to be efficient, loyal and good people to get things done during the war and it carried on into the institutions they built. Until they left them, and corruption slowly crept in. It wasn't stopped so more crept in and the snowball lead us to this very day. I kind of blame them too, but in their defence most of them were alcoholics. High functioning, but still. They couldn't pass on what we needed to know to be good decent people who didn't lie cheat and steal as soon as teacher was out of the room. So to speak. There are many more elements at play than that as well, of course. Just one piece of the puzzle.

@gerryoc2170 oh, we're pretty much on first name basis.. haha! :) The herons' trees are down in a gully, so the tops with the nests are only a few feet above my head when I'm in the garden. I talk to them so I don't startle them and they get used to me. You can totally see that these bird descended from dinosaurs :)
