Have you ever heard of Jason Reza Jorjani? His thesis is that the same entities spoken of in religious myths are the ones influencing world events: Titans vs Olympians, Vannir vs Aesir, Nephilim vs Elohim, Asuras vs Daevas, etc; the majority position is that of the malevolent beings who seek to prevent humans from developing, while the minority position which occasionally wages war against the majority seeks to raise up humans to join them in their fight against the tyrannical majority. Jorjani's view is that calamities will increase to depopulate the planet enough to establish a neofeudalist society with a stricter caste system like in the bad old days in accordance with the plans of the Daevas/Elohim.
