  2. Fun fact: if you keep your money in a credit union, you won't be subject to a bail-in. Credit union members are already equity owners whereas depositors of commercial banks are unsecured creditors. I am also fairly confident that credit unions will not have to resort to negative interest rates because they are not structured to be wildly irresponsible/unstable the way commercial banks are.

It would be quite strange if the colonization of the galaxy was motivated by people trying to outrun the encroachment of bureaucrats, but this is the universe where Dogecoin is trading like an appreciating safe haven asset, so it can't be ruled out.

It is worth keeping in mind that the credit unions were mostly unscathed during the 2008 crisis: 481 banks were liquidated or merged under FDIC guidance, whereas only 161 credit unions met a similar fate under the guidance of NCUSIF; mortgage delinquency rates for credit unions peaked at 1.61% compared to 8.86% for commercial banks.
