  1. One thing to consider: during the demand spike, a lot of manufacturers placed orders expecting demand to continue rising. Shortfalls are calculated based upon orders and expected orders, but I imagine that a lot of those orders will be cancelled as demand tapers off (all else being equal), so it could resolve itself quicker than you'd think.
