  2. The proper name of the "butterfly effect" is Chaos Theory, and it is essentially the study of stochastic systems. The point of Chaos Theory is that the end result from a minor perturbation in starting conditions cannot be predicted and can normally be understood only in hindsight.

  3. Question: if the dollar system gets so screwed up that the big banks subject depositors to a bail-in, what happens to credit union members?

  4. Potential problem with this thesis is that the banks are taking huge losses due to the Archegos Capital hedge fund implosion. If the implosion of margin debt becomes a trend, then the banks won't be able to afford the buybacks. We are at record high margin debt, so I doubt very seriously that current valuations are sustainable.
