Chill. Uber balances units by first buffing them to an extreme to see how it affects gameplay (remember the days of bumblebee spam and invincible vanguards?). They will then nerf (or buff other things) as necessary to keep the unit's usefulness while making other strategies/unit combinations viable. And just like any unit "balance" first pass, this one will be divisive: I actually really like the direction in which they are going with this. Increased range and vision are an absolute necessity for the Dox to retain any usefulness at all (otherwise, they get instakilled by any vehicle). The vision should maybe be reduced, but then bots are the only unit type without any scouting ability. The idea of having AA in the Dox is a little random, but the implementation is really not worth bitching about. Something definitely has to be nerfed (perhaps make them less spammable), but increased range (>50) and vision (>85) are necessary for the unit to be even marginally useful. This first pass is basically an attempt to fix all the general shortcomings of bots in a single unit. Uber will level it out soon enough.

catbert7 Fair enough. You make good points, but unit diversity does win against dox spam even now. The issue is that dox are too buffed and thus the only viable opening strategy in the current meta. Decreasing sight and range would certainly help balance them, but increasing their cost might also be worthwhile. Keeping HP low enough to be a one-shot kill from ants/bolos/alleged tanks/rippers/asteroid belts/unit cannons is definitely necessary, though.

I have seen a lot of recent matches where vehicles trampled doxes. If you play against some dude who has zerg-level micro (like Posidian), then that might not work.

Rofl, have you seen the Realm balance mod's cougar unit? The new Dox mechanics remind me of those types of battles.
