  1. The in-kind redemption with securities is not as bad as you'd initially think when you consider the scale of the token. If you wanted to redeem a billion dollars worth of tether, it would probably be impossible to facilitate that transaction over bank transfer (and definitely impractical with Federal Reserve notes), and, even if technically possible, it would be inadvisable. Large transactions like that are conducted with transferring US Treasuries or bills of exchange, which are securities.
