I personally experienced this chaos theory/synchronicity effect two nights ago: as I was sitting on the ground on the edge of a large woodland and a large wetland, a Florida black bear walked out of the woods right in front of me -- only 12 feet away. He looked at me and walked toward and past me, about 3 feet away from where I sat. He had exited the woodland via a small trail that forked 10 yards back: had he gone right instead of left, he would have been breathing down my neck; however, earlier this year, I spent an hour pruning and widening the left path to make it easier to traverse, so the bear took the path of least resistance. Had I not randomly decided to prune that path, it might have instead walked right into me from behind, and I likely wouldn't have kept my cool quite as well as I did and might have gotten mauled.
