The difference between use is one of intention rather than form: the ancient high priest would have ritual sex with the priestest/temple prostitute at the top of the tower to call down the power of the Watchers so to speak in a ritual of ecstatic opulence, whereas the prophet would go up to the mountain to be more receptive in a ritual of quiescent asceticism.
