  1. I suspect that we are heading toward a debt jubilee and subsequent near-total prohibition. This system is maximally unhealthy -- our governments have spent so much time and effort saddling future generations with unrepayable debt, and the bill is starting to come due. Hopefully there is an economically sound system on the other side of this calamity for the survivors.

  2. A significant amount of the debt was accrued for military adventurism, and most of it was unpopular -- populism is largely a result of the debt burden created by military spending.
