  2.  @off6848  the short-sightedness against which critics of mainstream economics rightly rail is not limited merely to subtle effects on the forms of capital commonly subjected to monetary calculation (i.e. capital goods and human capital) -- there is a significant deficiency in calculating the costs or benefits to social capital and natural capital, and I suspect this is because people are so focused on monetary calculation that they cannot see beyond the extent of their ledgers.
