Lightning Network, the uncensorable nature of base layer txns, and protection against fiat devaluation are the only real use cases currently, and these features are more useful elsewhere in the world.

The use case of Bitcoin is less clear to Americans and Europeans except as a speculative instrument because we are blessed with stability compared to the rest of the world, but I guarantee you would rather have Bitcoin than Venezuelan bolivars, Zimbabwean dollars, or rubles if you lived in those countries. With the Taproot upgrade and the expansion of the Lightning Network, synthetic USD stable coins will become available for people without access to a safe banking system via discrete log contracts. Saving the world is a slow grind, and progress is hard to measure. Also, the energy/environmental FUD has been debunked many times, and it isn't like the fiat banking system has no carbon footprint -- when you consider that America bombed Libya and turned it into an open air slave market (with literally millions of people enslaved as a result) just to preserve French colonial moneyary power in Africa, Bitcoin suddenly looks a lot cleaner and more ethical than fiat.

@EconLessons I have been working on the components for something like that for a couple of years. The basic notion is that everyone transacts via correspondent credit relationships with clearly defined limits and a universal accounting standard. I wrote the technical specification before I began on the code, and it is close to 40 pages long and still somewhat incomplete.

Gold is making new nominal ATHs. Adjusted for inflation, it is generally holding okay over the long term.
