  1. Trump is not the source of America's trend toward less involvement overseas. Trump is just good at picking trends. Case in point, his policy positions on China have been adopted by the entire political establishment.

  2. The government has become a cancer sickening our society. Slaves in Egypt had a lower tax burden than the middle class in America who are ostensibly "free" -- and even with the excessive extraction, the government still spends so much and so recklessly that they have to borrow/print trillions every year. The government continues to destroy our resources with no end in sight. I do not expect the DoGE to be overly effective on its own or in its first iteration, but combined with the reversal of Chevron Deference and a few other good recent SCOTUS rulings, we may be able to undergo a bit of collective chemo therapy to slow the spread of this social disease. However, the main underlying problem is Congress.
