In our gunshine state, I think the legislature went a bit too far with their restrictions on that particular medical procedure. The ballot measure went too far in the other direction, but I hope that the fact it got over 55% support is enough of a wake-up call for the legislature to revert to the previous 15-week standard, which is a more measured compromise. A frog embryo can have a heart beat, but that does not make it a person; the proponents of the heart beat bill did not promulgate a clear and concise argument for why a heart beat should be the standard by which we decide when a fetus gains legal protections of personhood. The original authors of the Bible believed that personhood began at first breath; the Septuagint translators believed it began at the quickening, which was the consensus among Christians from the 4th century until the 20th; the notion that it begins at conception is not Biblical but rather a manipulation of religious sentiment for political purposes. Edit: in fact, the early Christians believed strongly in Paul's recommendation of celibacy and Jesus' command to castrate oneself for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. St. Augustine lamented that he had married instead of castrating himself, and St. Jerome said that marriage was an evil to be defeated by celibacy.

Harris' entire plan for America was "I'm gonna win the election ahahahaa. I was born in a middle class family." She got less than 1% of the vote during the previous Dem primary. Running her as the candidate made no sense.
