I said "real democracy", i.e. the factual patterns of American politics are incongruent with the model of democracy -- American politics most closely resemble ancient Rome with the plutocrats giving the plebs just enough to avoid a revolution.

  3. ​ @randallsanchez3161 "codified" is not the word to use for establishing court precedent. Something is only codified when integrated into the law code by the legislature.

  4. Ever heard of the concept of "US Civic Religion"? Funny little parades are part of the ritual. In the wake of the January 6th riot, the DC political class brought out the golden eagle standard to parade around while everyone read their lines off of sheets of paper. Anyone with ears to hear and eyes to see could understand what was going on.
