  1. Dogecoin is out an imitator. It is meant to be a fun and sociable cryptocurrency that lacks the sketchy background/infamy of bitcoin, which had many thousands of coins premined by satoshi, involvement with botnets/organized crime, and the whole silk road business. Dogecoin uses scrypt instead of sha256, which is outdated; it has a transaction latency of one minute instead of 10; and has a much greater supply, making transactions more legible and microtransactions feasible. More importantly, it is a friendly/fun altcoin that has attracted a very friendly and enthusiastic community to support it and its users.
