  1. The ability to understand human physiology and molecular biochemistry does not automatically mean new medicines will be developed. Currently, the system of medical research is dominated by greedy pharmaceutical companies trying to turn a profit off of people's suffering, and they have bought out the FDA bureaucrats with indirect bribes. For example, there are inexpensive (and unpatentable) chemicals that are known to be safe and have been demonstrated over the past several decades in vivo (humanized mouse models) and some clinical cases to have anti-cancer effects similar to or more effective than patented chemotherapies, yet these have never been advanced to clinical trials.
