Concerning the EM Drive comment: I have read a lot of criticism of the experiments published so far and the explanations of results, but I have yet to read a paper that shows strong, experimental evidence that they do not work. Does anyone have any references on the subject, or are we just denying the published results based upon theoretical physics rebuttals?

  12. +Mark Jackson I disregarded the hype and expected the game to be pretty much exactly what it is, so the flaws in the game that annoy me are limited mostly to stupid UI/UX decisions, poor optimization, and random bugs. However, the first update fixed a bunch of optimization issues/bugs, and mods already can fix some parts of the UI, so the game is improving. It is more of a $30-40 game, but I've enjoyed it so far; I just play with a controller to negate some of the consolitis.

  14. At the speeds that warp drives propel ships in this game, wouldn't it be possible for infrared light from dimly glowing dust particles be blue-shifted enough to become this "space confetti"? That being said, the star's light did not seem as blue-shifted as it should have been, so it might just be an aesthetic design choice rather than potential representation of physics.

  15. How is Tharsis not a niche game? It is literally a space travel strategy/puzzle game with dice and cannibalism -- seems pretty niche to me.

  19. The Anjihilazer, Ragnarok, and rocket-propelled asteroids do that pretty well in Planetary Annihilation. I've played 250-300 hours, but grand scale RTS isn't for everyone, even if you want to completely obliterate planets.

  20. If the answer isn't "more rockets", it is almost certainly "more struts". My guess is that delta-V numbers are not in the game yet because the devs want to make it use more cohesive UI. (I've found the Kerbal Engineer UI to look a bit out of place, often covering up large portions of the vehicle in both the VAB and the SPH.)

  21. The ending is the same no matter how many times you play. You might want to mute your microphone when you see it, since you will most likely swear quite a bit. It is rather infuriating.

  22. Elon is an interesting guy. I like the Dragon V2 design, but I wonder if it'll be as cost effective as the Skylon or XCOR Lynx. It'll obviously be good for landing on Mars and various moons, for which spaceplanes will be less useful, but I suspect SpaceX will eventually develop spaceplanes for delivering astronauts and payloads to LEO.

  23. I personally feel insulted/triggered by the inclusion of the word "toxic" in this game. Hello Games is insensitive to the point of active oppression of [Tumblr] users. Also, there are a few UI/UX mods available that are really good, e.g. cleaner HUD, silenced audio notifications for "units received", etc. Unfortunately, nothing can yet fix the physics concessions or over-abundance of complex biology :|
