The germans used that very doctrine to with the 109 from the start, untill they became professional and could feel by instinct through experience, the reason they removed the wing mounted 8mm and either added 151 or 20mm as the nose cowling MG's couldn't be changed, they sometimes even took them out for the weight not wanted....remember theses types of fighter and tactics was of a brand new era..

No it aint!, the germans refered to it as a machine gewehr 151, instead of machine kannone 151...the russians call their kpv heavy machine guns to although being 5mm out to not take western rounds if came across like 50 Cal rounds wont fit into duska, as i believe the french south africans and a few others was still using upgraded versions of the 151 to the late 80's.
