They should stick a thick metal grid strong enough for a elephant to walk on over it, and enough room in the grates for them to get their trunks down to drink from it, also with a small door for when people need to use it.. They should to it with all wells like that, stops them having to bust it open with a excavator, not only that if a elephant can get stuck in it, imagine all the smaller animals who get stuck and end up dieing in their and they going to use it for drinking, that asking to be ill....
