Giving border patrol a better opportunity at apprehending them or deterring them and, they look for other options. A physical barrier is simply one of many tools to do the job. Just like every secure location in the modern world has a physical barrier around it. For the inauguration, they had a chain link fence. Do you think that was impenetrable on its own?

There are about 20,000 border patrol agents. If they made the federal minimum wage of $15/hr, 40 hours a week for 52 weeks. That gives them an annual pay of $31,200. For 20,000 agents, that is an annual cost of $624 million. Given working age is roughly a 40 years span, 20 years old to 60 years old. That equates to $24.9 billion. Do you think it would be prudent to construct a physical barrier to reduce the labor cost of patrolling the border?

And maybe if the structure could slow people down to help with motion detection and camera detection. Sounds like a wonderful way to increase the effectiveness of a physical barrier.
