The Supreme Court in Colorado didn't decide. They wrote a stay into their decision, effectively deferring to SCOTUS. But you sure loved those headlines, didn't you?

@justinstephenson9360 Holding office is a privilege of citizenship...

@ktkt1825 Due process in civil court? That's not the due process clearly stated in the first sentence of the fifth amendment. Also, Section 1.3 of the 14th does require due process, given that holding office is a privilege of citizenship. You can't just focus on one section of one amendment. The entire constitution still applies.

@ktkt1825 No, privileges or immunities are also subject to due process. They are all included in the same sentence of section 1.3, which ends with the requirement of due process. Correct, a civil trial does not prove guilt. So why are you pretending it does in regard to the 14th?

@MaryBravado-wy8iq No, the stay was written into the initial decision, before the appeal was ever filed. It's on page 5 of the court document. Clearly being a Colorado Native and Resident means you're too lazy to just read the court documents.

@martymartin5302 Are you really saying that the Court wrote a decision, Trump appealed it, and the Court wrote a new decision with a stay? That's not how this works. Try again.

@justinstephenson9360 Does Section 3 of the 14th amendment only prohibit individuals from being president? Or is this about holding any office? Furthermore, age can easily be proven with a birth certificate. What is our legal process for proving criminal allegations, such as insurrection?

@chrisp4170 The moment the SCOTUS appeal was filed, it enacted the stay written into their decision. Do you know what a stay is in legal terms? It means the court's decision was stopped or suspended. Now that the SCOTUS appeal is filed, the Colorado ruling reverts back to the previous one. This means even if SCOTUS doesn't hear the case by the primaries, Trump must be on the ballot. This is all for news headlines and political theater. And it seems you are ignorantly falling for all of it. Try actually reading the court documents.

@RonaldGamber Section 1.3, due process is required. Holding office is a privilege of citizenship. Due process for this is clearly stated in the first sentence of the fifth amendment.
