Why do so many people ignore Section 1.3 of the 14th Amendment that requires due process? Especially since holding office is a privilege of citizenship.

No, they don't decide anything. They look at a birth certificate and verify it. Now, what is the legal process for proving guilt?

@mariesmith8454 Declarations of secession, and declarations of surrender exist. These are legal documents that can be produced, that established the confederates as enemies of the US Government. Does the same thing exist for Trump?

Like ignoring section 1.3 of the 14th Amendment?

I don't think there's photo evidence of Trump inspecting defenses while in uniform. But I'd love to see them if they weren't just figments of your imagination.

I agree, we should also apply Section 1.3 of the 14th Amendment, which requires due process.

@Trump2PrisonOn34Counts Except, there is a legal paper trail that can be verified, just like a birth certificate. There are declarations of secession signed by the southern states. There is a declaration of war on the confederacy from congress establishing them as enemies of the state. There are enlistment and commissioning documents for soldiers and officers of the confederate army. What legal documents are there for the allegations against Trump? Furthermore, what was the Amnesty Act of 1872?
1
@Trump2PrisonOn34Counts Yes, because the due process for a declaration of war does not require judication in a courtroom, it's a congressional decision as stated in the constitution. Due process for answering for an infamous crime requires a jury trial, as stated in the constitution.

A week ago, I thought the "aid and comfort" argument was just a joke. But nope, just desperation.

@johnniequinn3215 Was Ulysses S. Grant giving "aid and comfort" when he signed the Amnesty Act of 1872, which pardoned secessionist from their actions during the Civil War? He was not, because the event was over. See how reality works?

@johnniequinn3215 There was no aid or comfort given. This argument based on pardons is asinine and desperate. A pardon does not aid or give comfort to what occurred on Jan. 6th. Now, you could make that argument for the Capitol Police that held the doors open as people walked inside.
