You seem like you need some facts in your life... “Here, no one questions that Mr. Kennedy seeks to engage in a sincerely motivated religious exercise involving giving “thanks through prayer” briefly “on the playing field” at the conclusion of each game he coaches. App. 168, 171. The contested exercise here does not involve leading prayers with the team; the District disciplined Mr. Kennedy only for his decision to persist in praying quietly without his students after three games in October 2015.” -Page 2, Opinion of the Court for Kennedy v. Bremerton School District (2022)

I would be ok with it, if they do it by themselves like this coach did.

You do realize the coach was praying alone, right? “Here, no one questions that Mr. Kennedy seeks to engage in a sincerely motivated religious exercise involving giving “thanks through prayer” briefly “on the playing field” at the conclusion of each game he coaches. App. 168, 171. The contested exercise here does not involve leading prayers with the team; the District disciplined Mr. Kennedy only for his decision to persist in praying quietly without his students after three games in October 2015.” -Page 2, Opinion of the Court for Kennedy v. @drawn2myattention641 Oh wow! One photo proves he wasn’t alone for three different games? Come on buddy, use some common sense before replying.
1
@drawn2myattention641 No, one photo is not enough. Especially when on the day of that one photo, his players were busy singing their fight song... Stop trying to change the facts. “On October 16, after playing of the game had concluded, Kennedy shook hands with the opposing team, and as advertised, knelt to pray while most BHS players were singing the school’s fight song. He quickly was joined by coaches and players from the opposing team.” -Page 8, Sotomayor Dissenting Opinion, Kennedy v. Bremerton School Dist. (2022)
1
@drawn2myattention641 Notice how it says “joined by”. That means the other team willfully decided to join him after seeing what he was doing. And he did pray in locker rooms. But when the district asked him to stop, he stopped. He respected that the school district felt that crossed a line. Now the school district crossed a line by going after his individual religious freedom. Why do you hate people’s free will to choose to practice religion? I’m not a religious person but even I can respect what these people are choosing to do under their own free will. Seriously, why do you hate it so much? Is it simply because you’re suppose to hate it, because that’s what your ideological peers say? FFS man, let people pray to whatever god or gods they want to.
1
@drawn2myattention641 But he’s not pressuring kids. He’s praying on his own. And when he was praying with others and asked to stop, he did. FFS man. Stop making up BS. And just consider... the moment a government has the power to force you not to pray, they have the power to force you to pray.
1
Yup. Coaches praying before football games, and you can’t end a human life due to the inconvenience of parenthood. So much destruction... FFS, cry more.
1
Because they pray?
1
@JordanS215 I like how you say “separation of church and state” without any obvious knowledge of what that statement means. Could you please quote where is says that in the constitution?... and when you can’t find it in the constitution, feel free to quote the establishment clause and we can go over your ignorance of the subject.
1
What about when the coach is doing it by himself without the team?... like he was.
1
Oh yeah? It was a stunt for a game on TV? Tell me more about your imaginary facts.
1
It wasn’t during school, it was after the conclusion of a game, and the coach was praying alone. Stop spreading misinformation. 1
What arrogance for David to spread misinformation. The coach was praying alone on the field.
1
Why can’t the coaches pray alone... like the one in the Supreme Court case did.
1
So would you be ok if the coach was simply praying by himself?... like he was.
1
Oh wow! No way! An echo chamber had a debate of their subjective feelings that ultimately fit their preferred ideological narrative? How shocking.
1
@w0ody16 Well, the discord could just start by actually reading the Supreme Court document from the case and realize the coach was privately praying by himself... womp womp.

You can. But it’s still religion. So you’ll still absolutely hate it.
1
We always prayed before games. The coach wouldn’t pray to win, but would always pray for the health and safety of both teams. One of the students complained about praying, so we skipped it for a game. One of the kids broke his neck that game. I’m not religious, but that sh*t happened. I still can’t explain it.
1
I’m not even religious and even I know the different sects of Christianity are based in the various Gospels. Just because the Gospel of Matthew says one thing, doesn’t mean the Gospels of Luke, Mark or John say the same thing.
1
The coach was praying by himself. Pakman is disingenuously selling a tribal narrative. Here is an excerpt from the Opinion of the Court for this case. It’s available online to read. No need to hear false information from someone like Pakman.
1
Oh yeah? Did you want to substantiate these claims or nah?
1
@KnarfStein How about you use your words like a big kid and say what the brazen lie was.
1
“Here, no one questions that Mr. Kennedy seeks to engage in a sincerely motivated religious exercise involving giving “thanks through prayer” briefly “on the playing field” at the conclusion of each game he coaches. 1
@jimohara You did read that. And that’s what the whole case was about. Him being disciplined for praying alone. It’s even contained in the court documents available online.
1
So you would’ve been “irked” in high school if your coach decided to privately pray without you?... 1
I like how you added in your subjective opinion that it was coercive, and tried to pretend it’s a fact.
1
@drwisdom1 Cool. Feel free to provide your imaginary press coverage.
1
@drwisdom1 So are you going to substantiate your claim or nah?
1
So what should the coach do if his sect of Christianity more closely follows the gospel of Luke?
1
What if the coach was praying by himself?... like he was. “Here, no one questions that Mr. Kennedy seeks to engage in a sincerely motivated religious exercise involving giving “thanks through prayer” briefly “on the playing field” at the conclusion of each game he coaches. App. 168, 171. 1
@itsjustme6632 Notice the part of the court document that says “praying quietly without his students after three games”. I know reading is hard, but you’ll be literate one day if you keep practicing.
1
@gattaca5911 I like how you cite the SCOTUS ruling with the case information and everything else I would need to look up your imaginary claim. Oh wait. You didn’t include that information. Because it’s imaginary.
1
Why? The coach can’t pray by himself?...
1
@kristiejenner2642 Why are you saying all his players needed to pray with him, when he was praying alone?
1
@AinSoph73 I hope you know the coach wasn’t leading his players in prayer, and he was praying alone. @mehdihatami3391 What if the coach was praying alone without the players?... like he was. “Here, no one questions that Mr. Kennedy seeks to engage in a sincerely motivated religious exercise involving giving “thanks through prayer” briefly “on the playing field” at the conclusion of each game he coaches.
