Providing healthcare for someone that can't afford it does not make it cheaper for everyone else. Did you hit your head?

@ItsGulfofMexicoDump Well, increasing taxes on the people that can afford to leave while increasing the cost of social services certainly isn't the best way to manage a ballooning national dept.
2
Actually cite the study for others to see. Or admit you just made stuff up.
2
@mark37724 Just to make it clear, Canadians like Sharon Shamblaw, travel to the US every year for live saving medical procedures. Your cheap universal coverage comes at a cost, and due to your emotional immaturity in regard to your political identity, you refuse to acknowledge this aspect.
2
@Brozius2512 Woah! Life expectancy is lower in a country with more obesity and sedentary lifestyles, go figure! Access to healthcare doesn't make people eat less or walk more. Try again.
2
@mark37724 Then say it... Say universal healthcare either cost more or diminishes the quality of care to cost less.
2
@markzuckergecko621 Actually, government programs can be cheaper, but at a literal cost. Look at the Postal Service. It maintains cheaper prices than the free market competitors. But... they are subsidized by the government to balance those losses, and in addition, the service isn't even free. We pay for postage each time we mail something. USPS is a great example of what universal healthcare would eventually devolve into.

@virginiamoss7045 And clearly you don't understand private insurance companies charge individuals more who live unhealthy lifestyles...
1
@virginiamoss7045 No, these are not details to work out later. These details could financially ruin the entire system, if not worked out in advance.
1
@virginiamoss7045 That's cute, but not how our government functions. The details must be worked out before it's agreed to. No bill leaves the House or Senate for the other chamber, until the details are worked out and agreed to.
1
@masonkanterbury3007 Yeah, you're right. Wealthy people don't exist anywhere else on the planet. FFS...
1
@Brozius2512 Can you please quote the claim I've made that needs citation? Also... I'm not a republican. Voting for a Republican is as idiotic as voting for a Democrat.
1
@mark37724 Well, given that in your original post, you said the people with your opposing views are "wicked and cruel"... So yes, your political ideology is very obvious, you made sure it was obvious.
1
@shareefpeoples5317 So in your example... The smoker can afford to purchase cigarettes for a lifetime but, can't afford treatment for the issues a lifetime of smoking causes, and everyone else should pay for it. Is that what you're saying?
1
@mark37724 If you go to the grocery store and don't have money to pay for your food... is the grocery store withholding necessary items for the purpose of spite or punishment? Please, make your ridiculous statement make sense.
1
@shareefpeoples5317 So if you provide food for your family at dinner, and then I show up to join and eat it without contributing more. How does the amount of food on your plate stay the same, while the overall cost decreases. Please, make your ridiculous claim make sense.
1
@mark37724 You won't because you can't. There is no analogy or example you can give where when more of something is used, it cost less. That's not how reality works.
1
Waiting list for three years for a common orthopedic procedure... Yup, that sums up universal health care.
1
@jamesvonborcke So the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, was a failure?
1
@jamesvonborcke I'm not attacking any president. You're the one that made the claim that people can't afford orthopedic procedures, and I simply asked if our current system is a failure. Why are you avoiding the question? Also, Trump is a moron, just like you.
1
@newshound2521 If they can afford to pay and get private, can they opt out of having extra taxes taken out for Medicare expenses? Or is it compulsory participation, forced by the government?
1
@newshound2521 Oh! A public hospital. And tell me, who owns these public hospitals...?
1
But our tax dollars won't do something for us. They never do. That's now how our government functions. It's great you are so optimistic, but that just never occurs.
